Student Life

Active bodies.Watchful eyes.

Regular PE keeps every child moving, and our volleyball and soccer teams give students a chance to train and play together.

Our teams

Volleyball for girls, soccer for boys.

Huda Academy has two school teams. Classrooms at the school are mixed, and the teams are the one place boys and girls are separated.

Girls

The volleyball team

Volleyball is the school’s girls’ team. It gives girls who enjoy sport a team of their own, with the teamwork, discipline and friendships that come from training together week after week.

Volleyball appears among the activities the school lists for middle and high school studentsNeeds fixing.

Boys

The soccer team

Soccer is the school’s boys’ team. For boys who love the game, it is a way to play with others who share both their faith and their enthusiasm, and to learn what it takes to play as a team.

Like volleyball, soccer is listed among the activities for middle and high school studentsNeeds fixing.

PE for every child

Physical education is on every timetable.

Teams are for those who want them. PE is for everyone: it is one of the subjects every child takes, from Kindergarten upward.

PE sits in the school’s own list of subjects at every stage: in Kindergarten, in Grades 1 to 3, in Grade 4, and from Grade 5 onward, alongside English language arts, math, science, Arabic and Islamic studies. It is a class like any other, not an optional extra.

Lessons take place in the school’s gymnasium. Having an indoor space means PE goes ahead through Little Rock’s summer heat and winter rain, and children get regular exercise whatever the season.

The school’s previous website said students have PE twice a weekNeeds fixing. For many children, PE is where they first find a sport they enjoy; for others, it is simply time to run, stretch and play in the middle of a day of learning.

How many PE lessons each stage has per week, what children should wear or bring on PE days, and whether infants, toddlers and PreK have their own movement or outdoor time.

Playing other schools

Where games against other schools stand.

The school is working with other schools to arrange games against them. There is no set league, schedule or season yet, and this page will say so plainly until there is.

In our words

we are working with other schools to try to get us to play against them

Where things stand

Both teams train and play together at school. The school is talking to other schools about arranging games, but nothing is fixed yet. Parents should not expect a published game schedule for now; if your child’s interest in a team depends on competing regularly, it is worth asking the school how far those arrangements have got.

How families will hear

When games are arranged, families of players will want to know the date, the place and how children get there and back.

The school will confirm

How the school will tell families about games once they are arranged, and whether parents will be asked to help with transport to away games.

Sports from earlier years

The school will confirm

Whether basketball and archery, both listed on the school’s previous website, still run. They are not in the school’s current list of teams.
