Accreditation.And our partners.
Who accredits Huda Academy and what that means for your family, with the standards and partners behind our teaching.
Accreditation
Who accredits The Huda Academy, and what each body is.
“The Huda Academy is the only Islamic School in Arkansas which is accredited by AdvancED and CISNA (Council of Islamic Schools of North America).”
Cognia • CISNA
AdvancED, now Cognia
AdvancED was one of the largest school accreditors in the United States. It later joined with Measured Progress and took the name Cognia, so accreditation that was granted under the AdvancED name is now carried by Cognia. The Cognia seal is the mark we display today.Needs fixing
CISNA
CISNA, the Council of Islamic Schools of North America, is an organization for full-time Islamic schools in the United States and Canada. Its accreditation is designed for Islamic schools, so it looks at how a school carries out its Islamic mission as well as how it teaches. Our CISNA accreditation is current.Needs fixing
The school will confirm
Which seals the school may display today (the Cognia seal, a CISNA mark, or both), its current status and next review with each body, and any certificate or verification link that families can check for themselves.
What it means
What accreditation tells you when you choose a school.
Any school can describe itself well. Accreditation is different: it means people from outside the school have looked at how it works, measured it against published standards, and agreed that it meets them.
An accreditation review looks at the whole school. Reviewers ask how teaching and learning are planned and checked, how the school is led and governed, whether it has the staff and resources its program needs, and whether it looks honestly at its own results and keeps improving.
Accreditation is not given once and kept forever. Schools are reviewed again on a regular cycle, and between reviews they are expected to show that they are acting on what the last one found.
For a family, that is an outside check you cannot run for yourself on a visit. It also helps later on: when a student moves to another school or applies to college, coming from an accredited school makes their record easier for others to trust.
We are the only Islamic school in Arkansas accredited by both AdvancED and CISNA. For families who want a strong academic education and an Islamic one, that is the point: we have been reviewed as a school, and as an Islamic school.
Our missionOur primary mission is to give students a strong sense of belonging to the Muslim community, to provide excellent well-rounded education in a healthy Islamic environment, and to provide students with a solid grounding in Islam and Arabic, which will enable them to live God conscious lives.
Standards in practice
Where the standards show up in your child’s day.
Accreditation is about standards, and families can see those standards in what their children are taught. These are the standards our teaching follows.
Reading, writing and math
In Kindergarten through Grade 5, our curriculum is based on the Common Core Standards. Those standards set out what students should be able to do by the end of each year. In the elementary grades we teach math with Singapore Math, one of the strongest math curricula in Arkansas.
Science
Science follows the Next Generation Science Standards, with experiments in our own science lab.
High school
Our high school follows the Arkansas Department of Education’s graduation requirements, the same as public schools. The Graduation Requirements page has more on the high school.
Who we work with
We work with the Islamic Center of Little Rock (ICLR), the Little Rock School District (LRSD) and UALR. We take part in UALR’s teacher residency program, and UALR gives our teachers professional development training. Our high school students can also take UALR courses through concurrent enrollment. The Community Partners page has more.
Checking progress
Our report cards are standards-based, so you can see how your child is doing against each standard. Through the year, teachers use formative assessments, the everyday checks on understanding, and summative assessments at the end of a unit. The Curriculum page describes each subject in more detail.
The school will confirm
Whether the CTB result on the school’s website is current and may be published, which year it comes from, and which standardized test students take now.
